In 1999 Gibson celebrated 40 years of the '59 Les Paul with this classic collector's guitar. It was hailed to be, to date "the most accurate reissue Gibson has ever made", with special attention paid to the binding, the perimeter shape, the top dish carving, the knob placement, the finish and the peg-head shape. These guitars featured a thinner, more correct binding, thinner Nitro-Lacquer finish and other improvements.
This guitar is in excellent original condition with only minor signs of use. It has some light worming (belt marks) on the back top edge, which is only visible at a defined angle under strong lighting. A couple of small shallow indentations in the top. No chips or finish issues. The board and fretting have no issues or signs of wear.
Originally issued in 1999 production continued into early 2000. The serial number (9 0314) confirms this to be of this period. Weight: 9.1lbs / 4.1kgs.
The guitar is complete with its original black 'Custom Art & Historic' case. 40th Anniversary Certificate of Authenticity, swing tags, promo brochure and accompanying 'The Beauty of the 'Burst' book by Yasukiko Iwanade.
