One of the greatest guitar maker's in history, James L. D'Aquisto, started his career in Archtop guitar building at the age of 17 as an apprentice at John D'Angelico's studio on Kenmare Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Over his career he only made 371 instruments which given his pedigree can now change hands for tens of thousands of dollars.
Re-created under licence from 2002 by the Aria custom shop in Japan the New Yorker' has been reborn in limited numbers, utilising his legendary designs, some of the original tooling and the building techniques pioneered in his original guitars. These Japanese premium grade instruments are now highly coveted by jazz players and collectors.
